Spider Lily (Lycoris radiata) produces dramatic clusters of spidery, reflexed petals with extraordinarily long stamens — one of the most striking and unusual flowering bulbs available. Blooms appear magically before the leaves in late summer.

Plant bulbs just below soil surface with neck at or slightly above ground. Well-draining soil in partial shade to full sun. Space 6-8 inches apart. Best planted in summer (June-August).
Very low maintenance. Minimal watering needed — drought tolerant. Do not disturb established clumps. Avoid overwatering especially in dormancy. Bulbs may not bloom first year — patience rewarded thereafter.
Blooms late summer to autumn (August-October). Flower stems emerge leafless and bloom first. Leaves appear after flowers fade. Striking clusters of spidery blooms on 40-60 cm stems.
