Day Lily - Mix
Day Lily (Hemerocallis spp.) are one of the most adaptable and rewarding flowering bulbs for Indian gardens. Each individual flower lasts a single day, but plants produce dozens of buds over an extended blooming period — providing weeks of colour.
- Extended bloom season — weeks of continuous colour
- Extremely adaptable — grows in almost any soil type
- Drought tolerant once established — very low water needs
- Vibrant trumpets in orange, red, yellow and mixed shades
- Divides easily — one plant becomes many over time
Plant crowns with roots spread out, just below soil surface (1 inch deep). Space 18 inches apart. Any well-draining soil works. Best planted February-April or September-October. Water in well after planting.
Full sun to partial shade. Drought tolerant but flowers better with regular watering. Divide every 3-4 years to maintain vigour. Remove spent flowers. Minimal fertilizer needed — once in spring.
Blooms summer through fall. Each flower lasts one day, but each stem has 10-20 buds. Plants rebloom reliably year after year. Excellent landscape and border plant.
